Guru Purnima is a religious Hindu festival dedicated to offering respect to all the spiritual and academic Gurus. It is celebrated as a festival in India, Nepal and Bhutan by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists. It typically falls on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashadha.
For Hindus, the day is special as Rishi Vyasa, the author of Mahabharta. Rishi Vyasa was born on this day. Buddhists observe this day as Lord Buddha gave his first sermon on this day A guru is a person who teaches and sheds light, knowledge and directs us to lead in the right path.
Guru Purnima is a wonderful day that reminds everyone of the Significance of great, self-effacing teachers, masters and gurus in oriental culture.
